Five CSOs selected for 2026 IRM Advocacy Grants

The Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM) has selected five Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) for its 2026 CSO Advocacy Grants. Each CSO will receive a USD 5,000 grant to implement their outreach activities to:

  • Raise awareness of the IRM’s role and grievance redress mechanisms.
  • Foster accountability, transparency, and inclusion in climate action.

Following a call for proposals, eligible applicants included CSOs that had previously participated in an in-person IRM workshop in Rwanda, Morocco, or Vietnam.

Green Advocates Liberia

  • Develop and distribute awareness materials
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings with communities, local leaders, women, youth and town commissioners
  • Host radio talk show sessions with local radio stations
  • Organise a group of community trained members

Institute for Sustainable Development Malawi

  • Conduct community workshops and town hall meetings
  • Broadcast radio programmes and interactive call-in sessions
  • Produce and distribute local-language information materials
  • Engage traditional leaders, CSOs, and media actors

Samata (India)

  • Develop key messages in local languages
  • Organise in-person community workshops and group discussions
  • Design and distribute physical/digital materials and toolkits
  • Engage with local newspapers and journalists
  • Train student ambassadress to sustain awareness

Yasen (Nepal)

  • Develop localized content on the IRM, working with district-level CSOs
  • Launch social media campaigns and radio jingles
  • Organise a webinar and in-person workshops to encourage cross-learning and exchange

Young Volunteers for Environment (Cameroon)

  • Train community mediators, local journalists and community leaders on role of IRM
  • Organise community dialogues with community leaders, Indigenous Peoples and local journalists
  • Engage with media outlets through radio and TV interventions
  • Produce digital campaigns, podcasts and webinars

The selected CSOs will carry out their respective activities through September/October. Upon completion, they will submit a final report and a blog post to the IRM highlighting the results achieved.
